Last Saturday I was walking beside St Thomas's Hospital opposite the Houses of Parliament. The tide was low and there was a cormorant in the water having a fight. He kept ducking and diving (see below - I missed the proper shot) and it was a few minutes before I saw the eel in its beak. It must have been at least 18 inches long. He finally got it, and swallowed it down, though it took a few goes. So much for my earlier post about eel pie shops being on their way out because of a lack of eels in the River Thames.
