Name the porpoise in the Thames...
There has been a lot of talk about this harbour porpoise in the Thames heading for Putney Bridge. It was photographed yesterday by Toby Forrester, but the original pic is a little hard to find. On Radio 4 news today there was a report that said dolphins, close relations of porpoises, have names by which they call each other, and they played some examples. One day we will put some kind of chip in these mammals' brains and find out that they are just like us. Meantime, down at the Thames estuary there are probably lots of harbour dolphins calling out this guy's name and wondering where on earth he has got to.
