Culture comes to Canary Wharf

M/s Stubnitz, a former mother ship from a deep sea fishing flotilla built in 1964 for the German Democratic Republic, has come to temporary rest at Wood Wharf in Canary Wharf. Baltic herring and Atlantic mackerel used to fill the holds of the 80-metre, 2,541-ton vessel but in the early 1990s she was converted into a travelling centre for culture and the arts, and has since visited 20 European cities. There are three areas on the ship, which can act as gallery, concert and performance spaces. Among planned events for her sojourn is an exhibition from the Cabaret Mechanical Theatre.

Wood Wharf is on the east side of Canary Wharf, and its lunchtime stalls are popular with office workers. For further info, visit the Stubnitz website
