Ship hotel for Olympic drivers

Just beyond Newham Dockside, the swank new £18.7million council offices on the north side of the Royal Albert Dock, lies a large bus and coach park for vehicles serving the Olympics. The ship seen here is one of two large ferries hired by LOCOG for the drivers' accommodation. The Braemar is one of Fred Olsen's ships and hidden behind her is the Gemini, a similar vessel built around the same time, 20 years ago, and on the market since Happy Cruises of Spain went under last year. The US Olympic team is using the University of East London – just beyond the vessels – as a training base. Lying beside London City Airport, The Royal Albert Dock is a huge body of water with little activity, though the London Regatta Centre is situated at the west end.
