Time bomb in Thames ticking for Boris

The MV Richard Montgomery has been an embarrassment in the Thames ever since she sank off Sheerness in 1944 with 7,000 tons of munitions on board. At any time she could blow, and ships have given her a wide berth. But now, The Daily Mail suggests in an article on the ship, she might scupper Boris's plans for an airport in the Thames estuary.

The paper gleefully states: "One expert has suggested that it might kill thousands of people in the immediate surroundings, and others that it would create Britain's first tsunami, and cause shock waves which would blow out windows as far away as East London, 30 miles upriver."

It must be the first time the people living in the Thames estuary have felt happy about sitting on this time bomb.
